Overview
The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri, is the final resting place of the 33rd President of the United States and one of only 16 presidential libraries nationwide. Dedicated in 1957 on a hill overlooking the Kansas City skyline, Truman himself was deeply involved in its daily life—training docents, greeting visitors, and even answering the phone. Following a $29 million renovation completed in 2021, the museum now offers immersive, cinematic exhibits exploring pivotal moments such as World War I, World War II, the Cold War, Civil Rights, and the Korean War through interactive theaters, artifacts, and hands-on experiences.
