Explore Local Spots Featured in Hallmark Christmas Film
Lights, Camera, Action:
Take a self-guided tour of local businesses featured in a Kansas City Chiefs-themed Hallmark Christmas movie.
When “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” premiered on the Hallmark channel in November 2024, Independence residents were glued to their screens. Several locations throughout the city — including the historic Independence Square, Arrowhead Stadium and an Independence resident’s home — appeared in the feel-good film that blends a flourishing romance, a beloved family tradition and the magic of the season. Here’s a list of places featured in the movie so you can plan your own self-guided tour any time of the year.
Six Spots You’ll Recognize From “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story”
1. Amid the menswear, grooming products, bar staples and home décor you’ll find at Wild About Harry, look for the large display commemorating the shop’s inclusion in the Hallmark movie. You’ll see snapshots and other mementos from the summer 2024 filming, and the display itself makes a great selfie backdrop.
2. Square Pizza underwent a transformation into a BBQ restaurant managed by a familiar face to Kansas City Chiefs fans — Donna Kelce, mother of brothers Travis and Jason Kelce.
3. The wide, open-air aisles and covered roof of the Independence Uptown Market provided an ideal filming location. See the pavilion up-close when you explore the Independence Farmers Market, held May-October and December-April.
4. The lush lawn surrounding the historic Truman Courthouse in the heart of the Square provided another picturesque filming location. Independence resident and TV producer Kassidy Sell worked on the movie set and said one of her favorite memories was seeing residents gather around the lawn at midnight to watch late-night filming.
“I’ve never seen a film set act as a tourist attraction, but everyone was so proud of the movie being filmed in Independence,” she says.
Other tips from Sell? Main Street Coffeehouse and 3 Trails Brewing were two favorite stops for the film crew.
5. Beloved local antique shop The Keeping Room makes a cameo in the movie after it enticed crew members with its charming character. The family-owned shop started in a garage and grew to its current location on the Square.
6. Head just a few blocks northwest of the Square to Union Street, which was used to film several home exteriors and streetscapes. In fact, resident Angie Judy and her family welcomed the film crew into their home, which was transformed into a holiday-themed movie set over three days in July 2024.
