First Presbyterian Church of Independence

Harry Truman attended Sunday School and first met his future wife, Bess Wallace, at First Presbyterian Church. Built in 1888, First Presbyterian is the only church included in the Harry S. Truman Historical District and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
