1827 Log Courthouse
**The City of Independence’s historic sites, including the 1827 Log Courthouse, are closed to the public January through March. These sites will reopen for the official tourism season on April 1, 2019.**
For more than 40 years, this was the only courthouse between Independence and the Pacific Ocean. Harry S. Truman held court here in the 1930s. The building also served as a Mormon mercantile.
