Cultural and Heritage Festival
112 W Lexington Ave
Independence, MO 64050
The 2018 Cultural and Heritage Festival will be held Saturday, October 20 from Noon to 6 p.m. at the Independence Uptown Market on the Historic Square. The festival will kick off with a parade of flags and music from local composer and musician Dana Mengel and friends. This will be a change in venue for the event from previous years.
The festival began in 2005 as a way for the community to celebrate its diversity and heritage and most recently was held at Hill Park.
The free festival is a celebration of history and culture for all ages. Come enjoy music, dance, and storytelling. Many local food vendors will add to the festivities. Learn about local ethnic and cultural groups in the festival marketplace. Listen and learn of our rich histories and traditions. Taste the foods from around the globe and enjoy the music from local talent. All of this wrapped in the beautiful setting of the new Uptown Market. You will want to make this a family tradition!
