The buck stops here, and you should, too.
In honor of President Harry S. Truman’s 135th birthday (May 8, 1884), admission to Independence attractions is free or just $1 on May 4. Free sites include the Truman National Historic Site, Chicago & Alton Depot and the 1827 Log Courthouse. Get access for $1 to the Library & Museum, National Frontier Trails Museum, Vaile Mansion, Bingham-Waggoner Estate, and 1859 Jail and Marshall Home. Individual attraction’s hours of operation apply.
In addition to $1 admission at historic sites around town, take part in activities celebrating the life and times of Harry Truman on the Independence Square. Join in on a baking competition at Gilbert Whitney & Co. or sign a giant birthday card to our hometown hero.
