Get ready, get set and shoot! Here’s a chance to show off your camera skills in
the annual "Images of Independence Photo Contests." Independence Tourism and the
Examiner are inviting all shutterbugs to participate in two photo contests for 2012,
one for adults and one for youth under age 18.
What to shoot? Of course, all tourism attractions and events are always good choices,
but you're not limited to taking photos of any particular place or activity in the
city. Start brainstorming when and where you think you'll find winning scenes to
capture over the spring and summer. The contests begin Saturday, May 5, with a nod
to Harry Truman at his city-wide All American Hometown Birthday Celebration. Sunday,
September 9 marks the end of the contest. Enter as often as you like!
Once ten finalists have been selected for each contest, the public will choose three
winning photos for both the adult and youth contest. Prizes will be awarded to the
top three photos in the adult category with a first place prize of $300, second
place prize of $200 and third place prize of $100. Three photos will also be chosen
in the youth category with gift cards prizes for Strikerz Entertainment Center,
with values of $100, $75 and $50.
